OptiRTP Places Third at the 2026 SelectUSA Defense Pitch Competition
OptiRTP Limited, a New Zealand health-technology company, represented New Zealand at the 2026 SelectUSA Investment Summit and took part in the Summit's Defense Pitch Competition, where OptiRTP placed third among a highly competitive international field - and, the company believes, became the first New Zealand company selected to pitch in, and place in, the competition.
OBST (Optimum Bio Sound Therapy) is a drug-free, non-invasive, sound-based therapy designed to support better sleep and help people manage the effects of chronic pain and everyday stress. It is delivered through an FDA-registered medical device (Class I, 510(k)-exempt) and has been refined through extensive real-world use since 2021. Founder Bogdan Anich has spent more than a decade conceiving, designing, building and refining the technology behind OBST, drawing on biophysics, engineering, software and AI.
SelectUSA was the culmination of several years of relationship-building and careful preparation. As the company began exploring U.S. expansion, CEO Jon Doherty connected with the U.S. Commercial Service, whose team - over nearly three years - provided the guidance, introductions and support that matured OptiRTP's thinking around its U.S. move. Ahead of the Summit they helped connect OptiRTP with aligned state economic-development organisations and arranged meetings so the team did not arrive cold.
Placing third reflected the same outcomes OptiRTP's users report - better sleep, and help managing pain and recovery - and drew genuine interest from the U.S. defense and veteran-health community. New Zealand has been an excellent place to develop and prove the technology; the next phase is establishing a significant OptiRTP presence in the United States.
OptiRTP is grateful to the U.S. Commercial Service, the U.S. Embassy and Consulate, and the American Chamber of Commerce in New Zealand for their continued support.
