OptiRTP Attends U.S. Consulate Reception Welcoming U.S. SailGP Team

OptiRTP CEO Jon Doherty and Partnerships & Performance Manager Byron Thomas attended a reception on 13 February hosted by U.S. Consul General Melissa Sweeney to welcome the U.S. SailGP Team to Auckland for the second leg of the SailGP 2026 championship.
The event, held at the Consul General’s residence, brought together leaders from sport, business, academia, and government from New Zealand and the United States. Among those present was Ken Lynch, Head of High Performance Campaigns at New Zealand Football, reflecting the event’s broad cross-sector representation.
OptiRTP attended following a recommendation from Jonathan Watt, Commercial Specialist at the U.S. Commercial Service in Auckland, which has been supporting the company’s engagement strategy in the United States.
During the reception, Doherty and Thomas met with Consul General Sweeney to discuss OptiRTP’s activities and its developing U.S. engagement strategy. OptiRTP also connected with members of the U.S. SailGP Team and other attendees with cross-border interests.
